Operation Sindoor a series of precision missile strikes targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan

India has launched “Operation Sindoor,” a series of precision missile strikes targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). This operation is a direct response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the deaths of 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen.

What are the main targets Operation Sindoor?

  • Targets: Nine sites associated with terrorist activities were struck. The Indian Army emphasized that these strikes were focused, measured, and non-escalatory, deliberately avoiding Pakistani military facilities.
  • Execution: The operation was carried out without Indian aircraft entering Pakistani airspace, utilizing missile strikes to neutralize the identified targets.
  • Casualties: India claims the elimination of 17 militants and injuries to 60 others. Pakistan reports three civilian deaths and 12 injuries, asserting that two mosques were among the structures hit.
  • Aftermath: Following the strikes, Pakistan’s military confirmed the attacks and stated that its air force was deployed in response. There have been reports of ceasefire violations along the Line of Control, with both sides engaging in artillery exchanges.
  • International Reactions: U.S. President Donald Trump expressed hope for a swift resolution to the escalating tensions. UN Secretary-General António Guterres called for maximum restraint from both nations.

In parallel, India has initiated “Operation Abhyaas,” a nationwide civil defence drill aimed at preparing civilians for potential hostile scenarios. This exercise includes air raid siren tests, blackout simulations, and evacuation drills across multiple states.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is closely monitoring the situation, with the Indian Army stating, “Justice is served. Jai Hind!”
